About Russell

A lifetime in Alaska’s big game country

Russell Knight is an Alaskan big game taxidermist and the owner of Knight’s Taxidermy in Anchorage. For nearly five decades his studio has been a trusted name in Alaska, preserving the wild beauty of Alaskan wildlife through expert taxidermy.

Russell grew up in Jackson, Mississippi, and made Alaska his home in the late 1970s. He has worked in the trade ever since. The studio creates museum quality art pieces, and every mount starts with a custom-built mannequin fitted to the hunter’s own skin.

Drawing on years of experience, Russell wrote a series of field care guides. Each one walks hunters through the right decisions in the field, especially in remote country like Alaska.
